Xolile Maswanganyi promoted to Manager: Tourism Sector Support

Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC) is proud to announce the promotion of Xolile Maswanganyi to the position of Manager: Tourism Sector Support. Maswanganyi’s  promotion follows her exemplary contribution as Coordinator in the same department, where she played an instrumental role in advancing JTC’s mission of fostering sustainable tourism development and supporting local tourism businesses. Her dedication and strategic insights have been key in driving impactful projects that align with Johannesburg’s tourism growth objectives.

 

With over 20 years of experience in the tourism sector, Maswanganyi brings a wealth of knowledge in project management, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning to her role. During her tenure at JTC, she successfully spearheaded a range of initiatives, most notably the Tourism Ambassadors Programme, which has empowered more than 400 youth in Johannesburg with skills and opportunities in the tourism sector. She has also been a driving force behind several high-impact tourism development projects aimed at enhancing the city’s competitiveness as a world-class destination.

 

In her new role, Maswanganyi will lead JTC’s efforts to support tourism SMMEs (Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises), with a focus on driving sector growth, fostering innovation and strengthening partnerships with both public and private sector stakeholders. Her vision for the sector includes expanding opportunities for local entrepreneurs and ensuring that Johannesburg remains at the forefront of tourism development in Africa.

 

Maswanganyi’s academic background further bolsters her expertise. She holds a B.Com in Marketing Management from the University of South Africa, a Diploma in Tourism and has pursued additional certifications in leadership and customer relationship management. Her forward-thinking approach, meticulous attention to detail and commitment to service excellence have made her a trusted and invaluable member of the JTC team.

JTC Appoints Zuqhame Matutu as Manager: Tourism Integration

Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Zuqhame Matutu as the new Manager: Tourism Integration within the Tourism Strategic Services Department.

 

With over 16 years of experience in tourism management and development, Matutu brings a wealth of expertise to the role. He has been an integral part of JTC since 2017, previously serving as a delegated Coordinator for Tourism Development. His stakeholder relations management skills are unparalleled. During this time, he coordinated key tourism initiatives such as the establishment of the Tourism Sub-Committee under the Joburg Business Forum, supported the development of strategic partnerships, while playing a critical role in enhancing tourism products across the city.

 

In his new role, Matutu will focus on driving the integration of tourism activities to strengthen Johannesburg's positioning as a premier destination. His responsibilities include facilitating market access for tourism intermediaries such as tour operators, travel agents, tour guides, tourism associations, fostering stakeholder engagement and implementing tourism development projects that align with the destination’s broader economic goals.

 

His impressive career in tourism started as a Junior Lecturer at the University of Johannesburg, followed by several tactical roles in both the public and private sectors. He holds an Honours Degree in Tourism Development from the University of Johannesburg and a Project Management Certificate from UNISA.

Nondumiso Mulaudzi appointed Business Tourism Manager: MICE

JTC has appointed Nondumiso Mulaudzi as the new Business Tourism Manager: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). With over a decade of expertise in business operations, Mulaudzi brings a wealth of experience and strategic insight to her new role, positioning Johannesburg as a premier destination for business tourism.

 

Pontsho Moeketsi appointed Events Manager

JTC has promoted Pontsho Moeketsi to Manager: Events in the Destination Marketing and Events Department, effective October. With 17 years of experience in the tourism industry, Moeketsi brings a wealth of knowledge in marketing, events coordination and stakeholder management to her new role.

 

Her journey with JTC began in 2007 as a Coordinator for Marketing and Branding. In this capacity, she successfully participated in numerous high-profile marketing initiatives and event activations that showcased Johannesburg as a leading destination for both leisure and business. Her experience includes managing JTC’S role in large-scale events such as the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Makhelwane Festival, Bassline Festival and DSTV Delicious, among others. She has also represented Johannesburg at prestigious international trade shows, including the World Travel Market in London and International Travel Bourse (ITB) Berlin, as well as tradeshows and roadshows in India, China and Japan, promoting the city on the global stage
